09/16/2015

Sept. 16 meeting: discussion of the condition of the lane. Motion made and passed that if it has done been repaired by the Nov. meeting we will bring up a vote of the members present to pay for repairs to be done. new business: motion made and passed to allow Max Young's church to use the trap shooting range on Oct. 11th. Voted in one new member. Membership now stands at 148. We still have 12 openings.

Dan has acquired a dump truck and grader to work on lane. We need to replace culvert at catch basin and 2 in the lane. Tony Gardner ask permission to use the grounds on Sept 26th for a family gathering. Changes to by-laws; Paragraph II, Hunters must obey all state laws for hunting on public grounds. Members must have a Bunker Hill Fish & Game Club firearms safety card in their possession when hunting or using the range.

People using the range are shooting up the 4x4s holding the targets. We are going to try using chicken wire to hold targets. The ash trees on the property are dying, Dan is to get estimates on cutting them down and on logging the woods. Voted in one new member and read one app.

The catfish have been stocked, 7 grass carp have been spotted. The club house locks will be changed and only officers will have keys. To use the clubhouse contact an officer. Voted 4 new members in and read one application.

Voted to stock 250 channel catfish in the pond, grass carp seem to be keeping the pond clear. The lane center and sides need to be cut down. Dan is working on his backhoe so that it can be used on the lane. Tile in settlement basin needs to be repaired. People are leaving trash when using the rifle range, anything brought in needs to be carried out. Voted in one new member and read applications for 4 more.

Discussed repairing the lane back to the club. Spring clean up day is this Sat. April 18th starting at 8am. Dale Sommers  was given permission to have use of the club house from 3 to 5pm on Sunday April 18th. Locks on the club house will be changed after cleanup day, and only officers will have a key. The gate key will no longer open the club house, 2 new members voted in, and one application was read and will be voted on next month. Club membership now stands at 140.

Old business: lock on the club house have not yet been changed.

New Business: date for spring clean up is April 18th. Discussed having a ham and bean supper. Passed motion for Dale Sommers to have use of the club house on April 19th from 3pm to 5pm.

No new or old business. Audit committee reported that books were in order. Mar.19,2015 old bus. lock on the club house have not yet been changed. New Business; date for spring clean up is April 18th. Informed members that the loan was paid off. Web site is now up and going. .

Old business; passed motions to have different lock on the club house and use by permission only, to pay off loan, and to set up a capitol improvements fund with 1/2 of dues and all of initiation fees going into the fund. No committee reports or old business.

New business; discussed possibility of sponsoring local boy scout troop. The members present voted to sponsor the troop if they request it.

Read application for 1 new member and voted in 3 new members.

Membership stands at 143.

Committee reports: Pond has stayed clear all summer, we wont add grass carp until spring. Bass and bluegill fishing has been good but no catfish have been reported.

Voted to donate to the Nat'l archery school. read 3 applications for new members, and voted in 2 new members.  it took so long to get this to you. It has been a busy year.

The members in attendance voted  4 changes to the club constitution.

 A member's spouse may be issued a key to be able  access the club property.

 Any member reaching the age off 75 with 25 years of continuous membership may choose a lifetime membership  which would not have yearly dues nor voting rights for club business.

Include the shooting range  rules in the constitution.

Require all members who wish to hunt or use the firing range to have firing range orientation card.

We may need to purchase additional grass carp.

Voted to allow a member to cut some brush around pond for additional fishing access.

Voted to allow a member to release some ringneck pheasant

The stocking of the pond has been done. 700 3-5" blue gills and 120 6-8" catfish were released into the pond. No bass were put in at this time as there seems to be a good population present.

At the August meeting we will be voting on 4 Amendments to the constitution.

the lifetime membership for those who are 75 years of age and have been a member for at least 25yrs.

There were 16 members in attendance.

Reports that the bluegill fishing has been good and some nice bass have been caught. Tom W. has not had the native bluegill stocked yet, these are supposed to provide good forage for the small bass.

Two new members were voted in and the application for a prospective member was read.

The membership now stands at 135. We have 15 openings.

5/14/14

A motion was made and passed to allow the 4H shooting club use of the  shooting range on May 31st and June 14th.

A 2nd motion was made and passed to allow a member use of the club grounds from noon untill 7pm on July 12th. We ask that you please refrain from using the shooting range or pond during this time.

A 3rd motion was made and passed to remove the catch and release restriction on bass and return to the 1 bass per day limit per the by-laws of the club constition.

Key locks are installed. Email address and phone listing was sent around for updates. The annual audit is complete, books came out to the penny. Continued discussion on setting an age for Honorary / Lifetime Membership. A committee was formed and will be discussed further next month. President reminded the membership that the club is turning 60 years old next month. Spring clean-up was discussed, date will be set at the next meeting. Firearms Safety Briefing and card issue took place after the meeting. Four (4) applications read, members to be voted on next month. Members present: 50.

Reminder, locks will be changed in March. Continued discussion on setting an age for Honorary / Lifetime Membership, will be discussed further next month. Set an audit committee to review the books. Elections were held (see chalk board in the clubhouse for the results). Discussion on insulating the ceiling in the clubhouse, being looked into. Discussion was brought up again on allowing Jr. Members to use the shooting range without an adult member present. Discussion was brought up again on hunters registering before hunting, similar to what is required for hunting on DNR property. Decision was made to renew the website for this year. Firearms Safety Briefing and card issue took place after the meeting.  One (1) application read, member to be voted on next month. Two (2) new members voted in. Members present: 12.

10/16/13

Shooting Range (Firearms Safety Card) issue and Firearms Safety Briefing to members is going well. Firearms Safety Briefing and card issue took place after the meeting. New pond pump is in and should be quieter and more efficient than the old one. Discussion on allowing Jr. Members to use the shooting range without an adult member present, decision was, no. Discussion on requiring archery hunters to have a firearms safety card, decision was, yes. Discussion on hunters registering before hunting, decision was, no. Discussion on getting rid of the combination locks and going back to “Key” locks. Decision was made to go back to keys, will be implemented at the March meeting. Two (2) applications read, members to be voted on next month. Three (3) new members voted in. Members present: 24.

The work on the shooting range is progressing. Range committee will get the signs made and print rules to be mailed out to the membership. Last shooting bench is completed and will be installed. Nine (9) trees were taken down to improve the grounds. Discussed and approved getting a new air pump for the pons. Three (3) applications read, members to be voted on next month. 7/17/13

Discussed getting gravel for the driveway and parking area. Decision was made to take the dirt that needs removed from the catch basin and add it to the shooting range backstop. Range Committee is working on range rules and signs for the shooting range. There are a couple of dead trees in the campground that need to be cut down. One (1) application read, member to be voted on next month. Two (2) new members voted in. Members present: 12.

Bluegill fishing is good. Catch and release for Bass was discussed and decided to keep it in effect. Two (2) applications read, members to be voted on next month. Two (2) new members voted in. Members present: 20.

Discussed the shooting range; improve by leveling the shooting area and adding soil to the backstop, appointing “Range Master”, issue shooting cards to range users, have a line on the backstop “Do Not Shoot Above This Line”.  Four (4) new members voted in. Members present: 18.

It was decided during the April meeting last Wednesday evening that improvements to the shooting range would be made on the 27th during the spring clean-up day. The range will remain closed until that time. There were also several applications read to be voted on next month.

THE SHOOOTING RANGE AT THE CLUB IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO AN INCIDENT ON 3/30/13 INVOLVING SOMEONE WHO LIVES ON 218 CALLING THE SHERIFF'S DEPT. AND REPORTING THAT A BULLET ZIPPED BY THEIR HEAD. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HARMED, BUT WE MUST FIGURE OUT THE DETAILS AND HOW TO KEEP IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN BEFORE WE CAN RE-OPEN THE RANGE. AS SHOOTING ENTHUSIASTS, WE ALL NEED TO THINK ABOUT WHERE OUR SHOTS ARE GOING ALL THE TIME! I WILL POST MORE DETAILS WHEN AND IF I RECEIVE ANY. THANK YOU AND BE SAFE.

3/21/13

The March meeting was held last evening. There were several items discussed and motions passed. 

-April 27th will be the date for the annual clean-up day. Start time is 9am. Some projects that are planned for that day include replacing the roof on the trap house, repairing and replacing some posts on the trap range, and filling in potholes along the lane. 

-The members present voted in favor of purchasing the lumber and supplies necessary to build 3 more shooting benches for the range. 

-There were 5 new members voted into the club, bringing the total to over 120 members. 

-Dave Smith presented a tentative budget for 2013, including a lump sum payment towards the loan for the property purchased in 2011, which would bring the total balance down to under $7000.

2/20/13

-Treasurer's and Secretary's reports were read and accepted. Several applications were also read and will be voted on at the March meeting. Range committee reported that they have several plans in the works but are waiting for warmer weather to do any work on the range. Plans to start a monthly trap shoot were also discussed. 

1/16/13

-The January meeting was held this evening. Thoughts on possibly expanding the shooting facilities and making the area behind the range a safety zone were discussed. There was a committee formed to work on range improvements. The committee consists of Jake Landis, Jeff Landis, and Tim O'brien. The idea of putting a hunter check-in station at the gate was also discussed. No new applications were read, and no votes were made.

7/15/12

-two changes were made to the constitution,section III paragraph 2 the first year dues for a new member will be pro rated with the dues being $50.00 for someone applying and January and decreasing by $4.00 each month. Section III  paragraph 5 there will be a grace period for the payment of dues. they will accepted through the March meeting.

- I apologize for being way behind on the updates folks, but here's what happened at the April meeting. Robert White was voted into membership. A motion was made and passed to allow up to $600.00 to be spent on stocking the pond. The pond has since been stocked with Red-Ear Sunfish, Channel Catfish, and Largemouth Bass, as well as 2000 feeder minnows. Also, a motion was made and passed by the membership to restrict Largemouth Bass to catch and release only until further notice. Also, a motion was made and passed to allow the 4-H Shooting Sports to use the club grounds on 5/19/12 and 6/9/12.

-The February meeting was held last evening. I wasn't able to attend, so no updates as of yet. I will try to contact someone who was there and post some info. If anyone has any questions, please email me via this website.

-Just a reminder that the February meeting will be next Wednesday (2/15) at 7pm.

-The January meeting was held this evening. It was voted on to move the date that 2012 dues are due to April 18, 2012 (the April meeting date.) It was also voted on to allow a Boy Scout troop to use the club grounds on Febuary 17th. In addition, there were four new members voted in.
